Dawn Porter is an award-winning producer / director whose most recent Documentary project, Gideon’s Army, won the Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Award from the Tribeca Film Institute. The film has received generous grants from the Ford Foundation, The Tribeca Film Institute, The Sundance Film Institute and Chicken & Egg Pictures and will be broadcast by HBO documentary films.

Other Trilogy Films documentary projects include Spies of Mississippi for ARTE Germany, and a documentary about celebrity Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli for the Cooking Channel.

Dawn previously worked as a Director of Standards and Practices at ABC News and as a Vice President of Standards and Practices at A&E Television Networks.

television news production. During her time at ABC News, Dawn developed script narration for news programming and provided the news staff with editorial comments. In addition, she helped develop both long form documentary projects as well as breaking news stories.

Dawn also works in narrative features. She was an Executive Producer on Serious Moonlight, written by Adrienne Shelley and starring Meg Ryan & Timothy Hutton. Serious Moonlight debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released theatrically in December 2009 by Magnolia Pictures. She is also an Exec Producer on The Green, an independent feature starring Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock) and Academy Award winning actress Julia Ormond. The Green will premiere on the Showtime networks.

Dawn is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Georgetown University Law Center.
