Few rival the civil rights resume of the longtime Congressman from Georgia. As a prominent deputy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis was arrested more than 45 times, severely beaten, and nearly killed while
working for equality in the segregated deep South. Undaunted, he remained committed to justice through nonviolence, and forged new alliances along the way.

John Lewis: Good Trouble is a new documentary film directed by Dawn Porter that uses a combination of verité, archive and the Congressman’s own words to explore how the ghosts of the past motivated Lewis’ actions during his decades of public service.

The film was released just weeks before Lewis’ death July 17, 2020.
